Proposed Levy

November 5th, Voters decide the Future of EMS.

The proposed levy will fund critical and necessary costs of staffing, equipping, and maintaining lifesaving emergency medical services (EMS) throughout all cities in Valley County.

A Yesvote will provide essential funding for 911 emergency medical services, ensuring they can meet the needs of all Valley County residents.

A Novote will prevent improvements to 911 emergency medical services, which will result in staff shortages & fewer resources for handling emergencies throughout Valley County.

This measure must pass by a two-thirds supermajority

What does this rate increase mean for your property taxes?

The current EMS district levies .00012 or $12 per $100,000 of taxable value. This provides the current EMS district with $1.2 million annually an inadequate amount to handle current emergency needs in Valley County.

There has been no increase to emergency medical services since 2009. Over the years funding shortfalls have been being covered by the Fire Districts from their fire protection budgets.

The proposed levy rate will change the levy rate by .0002379 or $22.51 per $100,000 of taxable value and would bring the total levy rate to .0003552 or $35.52 per $100,000 of taxable value* improving EMS District funding by $2,824,775.00 annually beginning in fiscal year 2025.

*Taxable Value is assessed value less the $125,000 homeowner exemption (if applicable).

This budget will fund staffing, equipment, and maintenance of EMS services for all communities in Valley County.
